Row by Row Experience 2016

Quilters everywhere are getting ready for the Row by Row Experience 2016.

Participating stores design a row for a quilt based on this years theme, which is Home Sweet Home.

Quilters can visit any participating store and receive a free pattern for that stores Row or purchase a kit to make the row.  Use 8 different Rows from RXR Shops and be the first to bring it into a participating shop to win 25 fat quarters.  Use that shop’s row in your quilt and win a bonus prize.

We have been busy designing our Row and pattern and getting it into kits for our customers.

Our Row this year is called Escarpment, depicting Lake Ontario, the surrounding vineyards and fruit orchards along the Niagara Escarpment, and all the towns and cities in between.  We feel so blessed to be living and working (our quilt shop is in the middle of this beautiful area) in such a scenic and bountiful place in The Golden Horseshoe.

We look forward to meeting quilters from near and far as they travel from Quilt Shop to Quilt Shop to gather their rows.  We have seen some great designs and can’t wait to collect a few ourselves.  Last year we saw customers from all over Canada and the USA, so we are ready to welcome you to our shop as you stop by.

We have just received this Nursery Program from Camelot Fabrics.  It features solid and print flannel in 45″, Plush Fleece in 60″ wide, Polyester Fleece in 60″ wide, Solid Terry in 60″ wide, and Baby Terry in 60″ wide.

Part of this collection also features Bambino Gauze in both solids and fun prints.  Bambino Gauze is great for swaddle blankets and soft and cozy whole cloth quilts or pieced row quilts.  You can see an example of this row quilt at CamelotFabrics.com. Check out their website for Free Projects and ideas, and come in to see us to make that special baby gift.

Happy Quilting!

The Quilted Cardinal

Wow, do we need to update!!!!!!!

Hello my fellow quilters and Happy New Year for 2016.

Wow has it been a looooong time since I updated my website.  I have been very lax in keeping you informed here. Although I do send out Facebook messages and Instagrams as well as emails with my Newsletter, I really need to keep everyone informed about what is going on at The Quilted Cardinal for anyone looking up my store on line.  Any Quilt Shop owner will tell you how the days and weeks and hahaha the months get away from you.  There is always so much to do and we love to see what our customers are doing and chat with them about their projects.

That being said, I promise, with hand on heart, to keep you informed here on all the fun happening in the store and in our quilting world.

Christmas has come and gone, sadly, as it is always a great time for quilting and sewing up gifts for that special someone.  We had a few Christmas classes available during the holiday season and they were well attended.  One of our popular classes was this Santa Baby Quilt class by Buggy Barn. We will offer this again in the summer so those of you who missed it can prepare to have it done this year well in advance.

We have our planning for January and February done and are looking forward to the planning of classes for March through to July.

There are two Demo Saturday’s planned one in January and one in February.  January features the Creative Grids House Ruler and the book 6 Halves Make a Whole Sampler.  We still have a few spots left, give us a call if interested. Saturday, January 23 10-12.

Polka Dots are prominent in our new Row of the Month Quilt we will offer starting this month. This is a colorful quilt done with polka dot batiks and each month an extra project sheet is thrown in for good measure waiting for your personal touch.

Just a reminder that we go back to our regular hours ( we will be closed Monday, January 4 and Tuesday 5 for inventory) so our hours will be Monday – Saturday 9:30 – 5:00.  We do hold classes several nights a week so you can always call ahead if you want to come into shop.

Hope to see you soon and I absolutely promise to keep you updated regularly.

Happy Quilting!

Please note our store hours have changed as of September.

They are as follows:  Monday – Saturday  9:30 – 5:00.

Row by Row has kept us very busy this summer, and we met quilters from all over Canada and the USA.  Customers were so excited to pick up kits and patterns and anxious to start their own quilt.  We heard and saw many ideas and the sharing that we witnessed in our store was truly amazing.  September starts the hibernation time for Row by Row, but after October 31st. we will be able to offer our pattern or our kit to anyone wishing to obtain either.  Just give us a call or a quick email and we can send to you at that time.

We encourage all of our customers to continue to put their Row by Row H20 quilts together and bring them in for Show and Tell anytime.  We look forward to planning for the next Row by Row in 2016.

We have some exciting collections arriving soon and classes to offer, so keep checking back.

Have a great quilting day!
